• Spanish-Mediterranean venue meets traditional Chinese Culture | Highlight Photos | Jackie & Damien

  • Last weekend, we had the pleasure of photographing Jackie & Damien’s hybrid wedding! Very common in Asian-Americans their age, a hybrid wedding is one where the traditions of a Chinese tea/wedding ceremony is combined with a more common civil ceremony that’s followed by a dinner reception. These types of weddings are common because couples want to honor and pay respects to their family and ancestors but also want to walk down the aisle like they imagined as a kid.

We know the newlyweds are off to their honeymoon tomorrow to Paris and London, so before they left, we wanted to share some quick highlight photos of their big day. This is really just a teaser because they had such a eventful day, so we’ll have a follow-up post with more photos soon!

    And here we go!

  • Lush Outdoor Northern California Wedding | Wedgewood Brentwood | Angela & Ken

  • Last weekend, Joseph and I had the pleasure of flying up to the Bay Area to photograph Angela & Ken’s wedding at the Wedgewood in Brentwood. Typically, we’d just pack up the car and take a nice road trip up the scenic Highway 1 to catch views of the Pacific Ocean, but this time, we opted to fly to make the most of our short stay in Northern California.

The Wedgewood Brentwood is beautiful wedding venue with lots to work with as a photographer. Wildflowers were in bloom and we found a couple of areas that were perfect for the first look and for wedding portraits.

Our day started in the early afternoon photographing wedding details and along with preparation for the both the bride and grooms side. Everyone was getting ready at the same hotel, and that makes it very convenient for us to get plenty of photos while the girls get their hair and make up done and while the boys drink and crack jokes about it not being too late to run.

After a quick drive from the Hilton Concord to the Wedgewood Brentwood, it was time for the groom to get the first look at his bride. We found this little bridge that’s for golf carts that was perfect for some quick portraits.

It was a beautiful wedding and we were honored to be a part of it. The Bay Area has always treated us so well and has always been welcoming to Southern Californian’s like us. The bonus was seeing so many friends from college at Angela and Ken’s wedding. It definitely felt like we turned back the hands of time about 12 or 13 years with all of those familiar faces there.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the highlight photos from Angela and Ken’s big day in Brentwood and congrats again to the newlyweds!

    Cheers!

  • Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden Wedding | Annie & Jason

  • Welcome back everyone!

Today, we get a quick look at Annie & Jason’s wedding that took place a few days ago. When the two booked the venue months ago, no one thought we’d be praying for dry weather the way California has been for the last few years. There’s been really low risk for rain during the last few years and then all of a sudden last week, weather forecasters were saying we were going to get one of the biggest storms we’ve seen in the last 6 or 7 years. What are the odds?

The day before the wedding, it was raining cats and dogs. Freeways were flooded, cars were hydro-locked and stranded, and trees toppled over all over Los Angeles. Everyone feared the worse. Joseph and I had our rain sleeves for our cameras ready, rain coats and umbrellas to protect ourselves from the wet weather. Fortunately, all our prayers were answered on the big day. Although it rained in the morning during wedding preparation, with some luck, the rain stopped a couple of hours before the wedding ceremony and didn’t bother us for the remainder of the day. Skies were a little gray and dark during the wedding ceremony at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese garden on the campus of Cal State Long Beach, but considering the way it was pouring the night before, it was as good as sunshine.

Please enjoy some of the highlight photos from Annie & Jason’s wedding at the Japanese gardenĀ and at Venue by Three Petals in Huntington Beach.

As the bride and her bridesmaids were getting their hair and make-up done, we snuck her wedding dress outside to the hotel lobby to get a quick detail shot of it before she put it on.

Even though the bride and groom agreed on not giving each other wedding gifts on their wedding day, the groom went against their agreement and spoiled her with multiple gifts.

Meanwhile, the groom and the groomsmen were having a good time in their room. After quickly getting dressed, they relaxed with some drinks and admired some of the gifts the groom gave his groomsmen.

Hope you all enjoyed some highlight photos from Annie & Jason’s big wedding day. I always love coming back to my alma mater, and this time was a little extra special because the bride was actually a classmate of mine at Cal State Long Beach. Who knew that 16 years after we started college that we’d be back there for her wedding? So awesome!

Congratulations again, Annie & Jason! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day, and may the love and happiness you feel today shine through the years!

    Cheers,
    Danny
