• Traditional Tea Ceremony Wedding | San Gabriel | Sarena & Douglas

  • Greetings! And welcome back!

Today, we share some highlight photos from a wedding we just shot a few weeks ago. Sarena and Douglas invited us to photograph their big day and we were more than excited to be a part of it.

We had a great time shooting their engagement photos at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia, and we knew that it was going to be a really fun day on their wedding day.

Please enjoy some of the quick highlight photos from their tea ceremony and wedding reception.

Here’s the bride getting her hair done by the talented Tee during wedding preparation in the morning.

Starting the tea ceremony door games off with a fun one with balloons.

For this game, the groom and the groomsmen had to pop these balloons without using their hands in order to get the paper clue inside.

The good ol’ suck and blow game. Classic and hilarious.

Everyone getting down and dirty negotiating how much it’s going to take to allow the groom to proceed to get to his bride-to-be. It was so funny because the bride’s mom was totally into it and didn’t make it easy for the boys.

After all the games and after the groom reaches his bride, it’s time to start the traditional tea ceremony. Here the fathers are introducing their side of the family to the other side, explaining their relation to the family. Very formal and very proper.

After the tea ceremony concluded, a short intermission, and dress change for the bride, we were able to take some photos of the bridal party at a nearby park. It was a really convenient location, but really challenged us to make it look as nice as possible. Luckily, we had magic hour helping us, and that makes everything nice.

Some of the guests got creative and made the bride and groom earn their wedding gifts. Thankfully, many of the groomsmen stepped up to the plate to help put down those shots of 1738 in those red cup.

Hope you enjoyed the highlights from Sarena & Doug’s big day. They were a blast to work with and the wedding party was super fun too. We saw a lot of familiar faces because a good portion of the guests were co-workers for another wedding we shot last year. It’s always nice getting referred to people who are actually able to see us hustle with the camera and doing what we love.

Be sure to check back again soon for more fun photos from other events we’ve covered!

    Cheers!

  • Spanish Colonial Wedding Photos | Pasadena, CA | Jane & Timothy

  • Greetings, folks, and welcome back!

On this wedding Wednesday, we look get to look back at Jane & Timothy’s wedding day where they sealed the deal and said their I do’s in Los Angeles.

As usual, we started the day off photographing and documenting the wedding party during preparation. Timothy, the groom, got ready at home with his groomsmen while Jane, the bride, and her bridesmaids were getting their hair and make up done at a hotel nearby.

The friendly and familiar faces from the Luong Lasting Make Up made sure the bride and her bridesmaids looked stunning and flawless for the big day.

After hair and make up was finished, the ladies made their way to the brides parents house and waited for the groom and his groomsmen to start the traditional tea ceremony. And you know when there’s a tea ceremony, there’s going to be ridiculous, clever, and fun door games where the boys need to prove to the bridesmaids that the groom is worthy of the bride!

I don’t know what this door game does to prove that the groom is worthy, but that’s what the bridesmaid made the boys do and everyone had a good laugh from it.

After a quick dress change from her red Chi Pow dress into a more traditional wedding dress, the bride was ready for the civil ceremony, which was hosted at Almansor Court in Alhambra.

From the outdoor wedding ceremony, we took the wedding party over to the Pasadena City Hall a short drive away for wedding portraits. We all love the Spanish Colonial Revival and Mediterranean Revival architecture the venue offers. Just beautiful.

After some bridal party portraits and romantics with the bride and groom, everyone made their way to Atlantic Dim Sum & Seafood to wrap up the wedding with the reception. It’s a new restaurant in a neighborhood filled with many other popular restaurants for these type of Asian wedding banquets. We can definitely see this place becoming very popular for wedding receptions because it’s newer and a lot more modern looking.

  • Palos Verdes Engagement Photos | Morgan & Cory

  • Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Today, we get a chance to take a look at Morgan & Cory’s engagement photos we had the pleasure of snapping for these two love birds. Currently living in the Los Angeles area, these two will be getting hitched back home in Georgia, so we wanted to capture some fun moments in Socal that they should share with these friends back home in the south.

Cory also happens to be a photographer himself, so it was a fun opportunity for me to see what I could do to make someone who is so used to be behind the camera to be as comfortable on the other side of the lens. Definitely a challenge I was looking forward to since I don’t really get that type of opportunity often.

On this shoot, I also had the pleasure of having Christina Asai on board behind the second camera. Christina is a make up artist who’s had a lifelong affinity for photography. Her busy calendar was clear the day of our photo shoot and she was delighted to join in on the fun.

We started off the engagement shoot in Palos Verdes. The weather was unseasonably gloomy, but we went with it and took advantage of the natural light diffuser to cancel out harsh shadows.

Please enjoy these highlight photos of Morgan & Cory!

They planned this engagement session well because they had this awesome burlap flag banner with the date of their wedding so they could use some of these photos for their save the date cards.

After a quick wardrobe change and short drive to the beach, we were ready to resume the engagement shoot. Like we tell all of our clients, we always recommend bringing a few different options with them that they can change into for more variety in their photos. Another recommendation we make is to schedule a makeup trial session to make the most of their engagement session!

The clouds made way and gave us some blue skies just in time for the sunset. What awesome luck!

Pretty sure these sunset photos at the beach show off the beauty of Southern California to their friends and family in Georgia.

It was a great day with wonderful people. We were able to capture their personalities and in the end, the weather ended up working in our favor. Christina was awesome behind the second camera, and even had some ideas for poses and used her makeup expertise to make sure Morgan’s hair and makeup was on point. Definitely some details that someone with her eye would notice, so it was really awesome to have her there.

Makeup was flawlessly done by Lucky Sin and hair was on point thanks to Steph Teaze Hair

We hope you enjoyed the photos from another fun engagement session in Palos Verdes!

    Cheers!
