• Modern Tea Ceremony Wedding | Teaser Photos | Kelly & Richard

  • Just a couple of days ago, two friends of ours finally tied-the-knot after dating for years and we were lucky enough to a part of their wedding. Kelly & Richard are two great people that we met at a wedding we photographed several years ago and clicked well with. Richard’s a hardworking guy with a great sense of humor and Kelly is full of love, patience, and an incredible ability to embrace Richard’s goofiness. These two don’t sweat the small things and value their family and friends. We’ve probably been looking forward to this day almost just as much as they have because we knew it was going to a whole day of fun and laughs – and of course, that’s exactly how it went.

Our day started off during wedding preparation. When we first arrive, we usually like to try and get some detail photos before getting into the make up photos.

Badgley Mischka shoes have probably been in 4 out of our last 5 weddings and for good reason when they look as good as these.

9 in the morning and already throwing back some shots to start the celebration. How wasn’t this day going to be a fun one to be a part of? It’s 5pm somewhere in the world, right?

All hands on a deck to make sure the bride looks her best before the groom and groomsmen get there to start the door game portion of the tea ceremony, which is one of our favorite parts of the day.

Wasting no time as soon as they see an opportunity, the boys try to bust their way through so their groom can get his bride without playing door games to prove his love to her.

After the bridesmaids were satisfied with how the boys performed and the amount of money in the red envelopes, they allowed them through the door and brought the bride down to meet her groom.

After the quick tea ceremony at the bride’s side of the family, the bride and groom went over to the groom’s parent’s house to continue the traditional ceremony.

After the tea ceremony, everyone got a chance to relax a bit and enjoy a light lunch. We all made our way to a park in Pasadena for the portrait session. Here are some bridal party photos we took outdoors.

We were really digging the unique yellow dresses that each bridesmaid wore. Even the groomsmen had different ties on too. It gives off a much more casual feel that we’re big fans of.

Traditional Chinese weddings can be a drag to some couples who want to walk down the aisle and have a wedding like they’ve seen on TV, but we really enjoyed how Kelly and Richard had theirs. They value and respect their family’s culture and tradition, and added in a lot of their own touches to make it very personal and a lot of fun at the same time. Want to know more about tea ceremonies? Check out this detailed write-up on them here: What is a tea ceremony.

We hope you’ve enjoyed these quick teaser photos from Kelly & Richard’s wedding. It was so much fun getting to meet their friends and family and we wish them the very best.

    Congratulations, Kelly & Richard!

    Cheers!

  • Historic Glamorous Theater Wedding | Ebell of Los Angeles | Miko & Don

  • Last weekend, we were fortunate enough to be the ones trusted to photograph Miko & Don’s special and once in a lifetime day. From the super fun engagement session we had with them late last year, we knew their wedding was going to be totally awesome and a huge celebration.

Please enjoy some of the highlight photos from last weekend at the historic Ebell of Los Angeles.

As always, our day starts off during wedding preparation. The girls got ready at a nearby luxury boutique hotel in the Koreatown neighborhood in Los Angeles called The Aventura. Totally hip and in walking distance of lots of great bars and restaurants, the girls had a morning full of laughs and champagne while they were getting ready for the big day.

Before their Uber came to pick up the girls to drop them off at the wedding venue nearby, they kept the celebration going with a shot of vodka! These girls knew how to celebrate and were just full of joy.

The groom surprising his bride with a sweet note and a flask with something to help calm her nerves. That’s a pro-move right there and something for us guys to take note.

The boys knew how to celebrate just as much as the girls.

We love when couples ask their guests to leave their phones in their purses and pockets so they can be a part of the wedding and let their talented photographers and videographers work their magic without worrying about guests getting in the way.

It was a beautiful wedding and a really fun one to be a part of. Helen, the coordinator was on point and made the day go by as smooth as butter. It’s such a bonus when we work with great vendors who love what they do as much as we do.

We hope you enjoyed these teaser photos because we definitely enjoyed capturing all these moments.

    Congrats again Miko & Don!

    Cheers!

  • Gazebo Garden Golf Course Wedding | Highlight Photos | Stephanie & David

  • Welcome back to Blue Soul Photo! We hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and are all ready to get back on the grind!

The other weekend, we got to be a part of Stephanie & David’s wedding day and be their wedding photographers to capture all their special moments.

Please enjoy some highlight photos we put together quickly.

We started off the wedding day at the Ayres Suites in Diamond Bar to hang out and get preparation photos while the bride, groom, and their fun wedding party get ready for the big day.

It’s normal for us to get started with wedding detail photos taken care of first, so we got photos of her wedding dress, wedding shoes, and wedding rings before we started snapping photos of hair and make up.
